Christian Thompson is the inaugural recipient of the Mordant Family Commission VR at the Australian Center for the Moving Image. He is thrilled to announce the launch of this VR commission - Bayi Gardiya. (Singing Desert).

Bayi Gardiya (Singing Desert) is a bold, ambitious and new virtual reality work. In it, Christian Thompson invites audiences to walk through the landscape of his childhood, where they witness a simple yet profound aesthetic gesture of the artist singing in his traditional Bidjara language, a recognised lost language.

The work is open for viewing at ACMI from 1 - 23 May. Read more about this landmark project here.
